Keane named Cork Person of the Year

Roy Keane has been named Cork Person of the Year.

The announcement was made in the Rebel county this afternoon and the award was accepted on the footballer's behalf by his father, Mossie.

An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, was guest of honour at the function.

This is the 12th year of the awards and nominees included Clare O'Leary, the first Irishwoman to climb Mount Everest, and Pat Falvey and Samantha O'Carroll who also climbed the Himalayan mountain last year.
