Lexus test unikely for pilot

Harbour Pilot looks unlikely to take his chance in the Grade One Lexus Chase at Leopardstown according to his trainer Noel Meade.

The nine-year-old has undergone a series of tests since disappointing when pulled up in the John Durkan Memorial Chase at Punchestown earlier this month.

Harbour Pilot was thought to be suffering from a heart problem but vets could find nothing wrong with the horse.

Meade is keen to give the horse more time to recover now though and he has pencilled in the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup at Leopardstown on February 6 for his return.

"I don't think we will run him. We will just give him a little bit more time," he said.
