Kilmurry far too strong for Milltown

Clare's Kilmurry-Ibrickane ensured a novel pairing in next month's AIB Munster Club football final as goals from Enda Coughlan and Shane Hickey helped them to a 2-7 to 0-8 success over Kerry play-off winners Milltown-Castlemaine.

The Banner men will meet Waterford's Stradbally on December 5 for a provincial crown which has been shared by Cork and Kerry clubs over the past five years - since Doonbeg claimed Clare's only triumph in 1998.

Kilmurry opened well in rainy conditions, leading 1-3 to 0-2 thanks to Coughlan's goal on 11 minutes, and three points from his inter county colleague Odhran O'Dwyer.

By that time half forwards Alfie Giles and Gavin Wrenn had pointed for the Kingdom side, who were down 2-4 to 0-3 at the break due to 18-year-old Hickey's fine strike.

Five successive points midway through the second half from Wrenn (0-2), Donal Kelliher, Giles and Paudie McCarthy kept Milltown in the hunt but Kilmurry had enough depth to progress.
