Australian snooker great Eddie Charlton dies

Australian snooker ace Eddie Charlton has passed away at the age of 75 in a New Zealand a hospital spokesman said.

Palmerston North Hospital spokesman Dennis Geddis said that Charlton had been suffering from a tumour in the bile duct for some time and died of a cardiac arrest.

Charlton was travelling in New Zealand for a series of exhibitions and engagements and fell ill soon after his arrival on Friday.

The Aussie ace was beaten in three World Championship finals - to England's John Pulman in 1968 and Welshman Ray Reardon in 1973 and 1975.

Eddie was still actively playing the game he had loved for so
