Burns assumes caretaker role

The Scottish FA have appointed Tommy Burns as provisional caretaker manager for Scotland's friendly against Sweden on November 17.

The former Celtic player and manager was assistant to Berti Vogts before the German quit as Scotland boss on Monday.

The SFA have already drawn up a short-list at their board meeting today to fill the vacancy left by Vogts.

If a successor to the German is in place before the friendly at Easter Road later this month, Burns could step aside.
