West Brom play down Robson appraoch

West Bromwich Albion are refusing to comment on reports they have approached  Bobby Robson to take over at The Hawthorns from sacked Gary Megson.

Robson is the early favourite to succeed Megson, possibly in partnership with former Baggies star Bryan Robson.

The former Newcastle manager was also keen to play down speculation, saying: "As far as I'm concerned this is nothing more than conjecture."

Gary Megson was relieved of his duties yesterday after telling chairman Jeremy
Peace he would not sign a new short-term contract when his current deal ran out
at the end of the season.
