Azamour heads Champion 11

John Oxx's will be bidding to become the first horse since Pilsudski in 1987 to complete an Anglo-Irish champion Stakes double when he heads a field of 11 in Saturday's Newmarket feature.

Azamour, who will not want the ground too soft, will face a rematch with the David Elsworth-trained Norse Dancer, who was just half a length behind him at Leopardstown as well as Godolphin's Doyen, who finished a disappointing seventh.

The other two Godolphin runners are Coral Eclipse winner Refuse To Bend and probable pacemaker Naheef.

Mark Johnston is double-handed for the ten-furlong contest, with both the progressive Mister Monet and recent Queen Elizabeth II Stakes second Lucky Story looking like leading players.

The most notable absentee is Marcus Tregoning's Mubtaker, who also missed out on a recent date in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

The field is completed by 2000 Guineas winner Haafhd, Chorist, Salselon and Aidan O'Brien's Mingun.
