Lille hammer Metz in France

French side Lille OSC prepared for Thursday's UEFA Cup, First Round, second leg tie with Shelbourne by hammering Metz 4-0 in Ligue 1 last night.

Before a crowd of 15,00, Milenko Acimovic gave Lille the lead on 17 minutes from the penalty spot. Matt Moussilou (51) and Johan Audel (80) added to the tally in the second half, as did Metz right back Bruno Bompiere, who put through his own net on 71.

Lille are now up to second in the table on 16 points, one behind leaders Monaco.

They host Shelbourne at 6.30pm Irish time on Thursday. The game is live on RTÉ Network Two television.
