Bournemouth blast Blackburn out

Bournemouth blasted Premiership side Blackburn out of the Carling Cup tonight with a 7-6 win on penalties after extra time. However, Everton managed to keep Bristol City at bay after they also went to penalties but won 4-3.

Meanwhile, some of the Premiership sides had more convincing victories, Spurs beat Oldham 6-0 with Robbie Keane scoring one of the six, whilst David O' Leary's Aston Villa beat QPR on a score line of three goals to one. Fulham came out on winners against Boston United at 4-1 and Southampton beat Northampton 3-0.

Sheffield Wednesday's had a man sent off in their one nil defeat against Coventry City. Nottingham Forest games against Rotherham United went to extra time with Forest winning by two goals to one.
