Leading fillies set for Matron Stakes

As is the case with the Champion Stakes, Entries for the newly elevated ¤260,000 Coolmore Stud sponsored Matron Stakes at Leopardstown are looking very strong at this stage.

Indications are that the Irish and English Guineas winner Attraction, trained by Mark Johnson will line up along with James Fanshawe.s Soviet Song who also plans to run.

Among the Irish entries are : Alexander Goldrun, trained by Jim Bolger; the Dermot Weld trained Miss Mambo and Yesterday who looks like the probable representative from Aidan O Brien. Kevin Prendergast has yet to make a decision on his likely entries.

Possible additional runners include the Godolphin trained Zosima and the Mike Channon trained Majestic Desert. Sir Michael Stoute currently has three entries in the race and has yet to make a decision as to who will participate.

The Forfeit / Supplementary Stage for both the Baileys Irish Champion Stakes and the Coolmore Fusaichi Pegasus Matron Stakes will take place  next Monday September 6. Final declarations for both races must be made by 10am on Thursday  September 9.
