Angel signs new Villa deal

Juan Pablo Angel has today pledged his future to Aston Villa by signing a new four-year contract. Negotiations which started with Angel towards the end of last season have finally been concluded, and the Colombia international has tied himself to the club until 2008.

Speculation had recently linked Angel with a move away from Villa Park this summer, but last season's 23-goal leading scorer has quashed the rumours by putting pen to paper on a fresh deal.

Chairman Doug Ellis told www.avfc.co.uk: "This is great news for everybody at Villa Park the fans, the board, the staff and the players. Juan is an important player and we're delighted to have agreed a new deal. Juan Pablo Angel played a key role in our revival last season and we're confident he can carry that sensational form into the new season."
