Barca unveil latest new player Silvinho

Barcelona unveiled their fifth new signing since the end of last season when Brazilian defender Silvinho was presented to the media at the Nou Camp today.

Barca said the former Arsenal player had signed a three-year contract with the club, a year more than was originally envisaged.

"This is a historic day for me," said the 30-year-old left back. "I'm really keen to succeed at this club."

Spanish media reported that Barca had paid around ¤2m plus a performance-related bonus to Celta Vigo for the defender.

The Catalans have embarked on a major recruitment campaign since finishing as runners-up to Valencia in last season's Spanish title race.

Portugal playmaker Deco, Sweden striker Henrik Larsson, French midfielder Ludovic Giuly and Brazilian defender Juliano Belletti have all joined the club in recent weeks for a combined outlay of close to ¤25m.
