Tottenham favourites to sign Davids

Tottenham are emerging as favourites to get the signature of star Dutch midfielder Edgar Davids. The 31-year-old is set to quit Barcelona to play in the Premiership and Spurs are leading the chase to sign him.

Free agent Davids has been on loan at Barcelona but failed to meet a deadline set by the Nou Camp club about whether he would be accepting a deal from them.

Davids is a free agent now that his Euro 2004 campaign with the Netherlands is over. He left Juventus to join Barcelona on loan in January and his contract with the Italian club runs out this summer.
