Reiziger expects to play in the Premiership

Holland defender Michael Reiziger claims talks with Middlesbrough are ongoing and that he expects to play in the  Premiership next season. The Barcelona defender had an season outstanding at the Nou Camp but president Joan Laporta is planning a shake-up and has told Reiziger he needs to find a new club.

After Holland's penalty shoot-out victory over Sweden, Reiziger, who has also been a target of Spanish champions Valencia said: "I am negotiating with Middlesbrough, the negotiations are going well.

"At the moment I am in Portugal focusing solely in the national team. I am happy to be playing and I'm giving everything to help my team. We will see what happens with respect to my future after the tournament ends."

Meanwhile, Dutch midfielder Boudewijn Zenden is uncertain of his future although he believes he is going to return to Chelsea after his loan spell at Middlesbrough.

Zenden said: "I've had a very good time at Middlesbrough, it has been positive for my career. I have one year left in my contract with Chelsea and I theory, I should go back to Chelsea this summer. I have several options but I have to wait and see what happens.
