Zaccheroni quits as Inter boss

Alberto Zaccheroni has resigned as coach of Inter Milan the club revealed today. Zaccheroni took charge of the Nerazzurri last October after Hector Cuper was sacked by then president Massimo Moratti.

The former Udinese coach, who also won the Scudetto with Inter's great rivals AC Milan in 1999, led Inter to fourth spot in Serie A, which ensured they qualified for next season's Champions League.

Zaccheroni's cause was not helped by a number of disagreements with the club's most high-profile player, striker Christian Vieri, and this is likely to have had an influence on his departure. They also crashed out of the Champions League at the first group stage.
