McKiernan wins Mini Marathon

Catherina McKiernan won yesterday's women's Mini Marathon in Dublin. Her time for the 10 kilometres race was 33 minutes and 46 seconds. She was almost a minute clear of second placed Jolene Byrne of Donore who finished second in 34 minutes 34 seconds with Pauline Curley another ten seconds back in third place.

McKiernan broke clear early on and had a 50 metre lead by the three kilometre mark and won with ease from there on. She'll face a more significant test when she goes for the Olympic 10,000 metre qualifying time at Gateshead in three weeks time.

The wheelchair race was won again by Patrice Dockery in 30 minutes 48 seconds.
