The Spanish giants have called a press conference to discuss Davids' contract situation and sporting director Aitor Begiristain is expected to say the midfielder has turned down a new deal.

Begiristain has held talks with the player and his agent Robert Geerling over the past few days after Geerling claimed in a Spanish newspaper that a club from England, believed to be Man United had made "a huge offer" for the player.

"We haven't reached an agreement with Barcelona," Gerling added in the interview, fuelling speculation that Davids in on his way out of Spain.

Barcelona wanted Davids to remain in Catalonia because he was instrumental in helping them surge up the table and finish in second place but appeared reluctant to give him a longer deal than two-years.
