Hughes flies home for easy Glasgow success

It turned ot to be a procession for Richard Hughes aboard Day Flight in the Glasgow Stakes, underlined by a 20 length winning margin.

The Sadler's Wells colt is not entered in the Vodafone Derby but connections of the John Gosden-trained runner must be tempted to splash out the £75,000 required to add him to the Epsom Classic judged on the manner of his 20-length demolition of Mac Regal.

Bookmakers were impressed and he is a 10-1 chance with Victor Chandler.

Hughes said afterwards: "I was a bit worried at the start, as he didn't go down as well as I would have liked, but the canter down did him good and once he's racing he's a different horse.

"It's the first time I've ridden him, but when one of Mr Gosden's wins first time so impressive, it says something about the horse."

If Day Flight doesn't line up at Epsom on June 5, he will go for the King Edward VII Stakes at Ascot, followed by a tilt at the Irish Derby on June 27.
