Wallaby great Dwyer to coach Barbarians

Former Australia coach Bob Dwyer will coach the Barbarians during their three-match tour of Britain next month.  Dwyer, who guided the Wallabies to World Cup glory in 1991, will lead the Barbarians in their matches against Scotland at Murrayfield on May 22, Wales at Bristol on May 26 and England at Twickenham on May 30.

"I am delighted to be invited again this year and been able to accept, now that I no longer have any responsibilities with the New South Wales Waratahs and Super 12 competition," he said in a statement.  "It is an exciting and satisfying role working with elite players from different countries, with different playing styles and seeing them gel into a successful team in the Barbarian style, with a limited time for training."

He added: "I have coached the Barbarians on nine occasions from 1999 - 2001, winning seven out of the nine matches, which speaks volumes for the capacity of the talented players that the Barbarians attract - great players together can play great rugby."

Turning to next month's games, Dwyer said: "I am looking forward to returning to the UK, where I spent four fulfilling years in my time as coach of Leicester and Bristol.  "In particular with this year's game against Wales at Ashton Gate, returning to the south west of (England) which I have fond memories."

A number of Australian players have also accepted invitations to play for the Barbarians, including Joe Roff, Chris Latham and Matt Burke.
