New sponsors for English Football League

Coca-Cola will replace Nationwide as the new sponsors of the English Football League next season. The new three-year deal is reported to be the biggest deal in Football League history, beating the £4million-a-year paid out by Nationwide.

That should mean a bigger handout for each of the 72 member clubs, a large percentage of whom have been struggling since the collapse of ITV Digital. Football League chairman Brian  Mawhinney said: "As this is a significant deal they (the clubs) can look forward to receiving a little more from us next season."
