Reports link Chelsea with Real Madrid duo

Real Madrid pair Roberto Carlos and Juanfran have both rejected approaches from Chelsea, according to Spanish media reports. The London club is interested in Brazilian World Cup winner Carlos as well as youngster Juanfran Torres, who plays in the reserves, but was a star of the Spanish Under-20 team that reached the final of the World Youth Cup earlier this month.

Carlos is in the final stages of renewing a contract with the Madrid giants which would see him stay at the Bernabeu until 2007. However, Russian oil baron and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich contacted Carlos during his winter break in Sao Paolo offering an increase on an offer he made last June for him. The defender, however, has indicated he intends to remain with Real, while Juanfran insists he has no intention of moving to London.
