Wednesday look to sign Gazza

Paul Gascoigne has been offered the chance to resurrect his playing career with second division side Sheffield Wednesday. The former England midfielder trained with Wolves recently but called time on his stint at Molineux because he did not think he could make the grade in the Premiership.

Wednesday boss Chris Turner siad: "We've made contact with his agent to see what his situation is. We're just exploring the possibility of Gazza joining us for a while and we'd take it from there. He wasn't quite good enough for Wolves in the Premiership, but I think he could do a job for us in the Second Division.

"Apparently he trained well with Wolves and did well in the reserves and we think he could do well here. It's a personality thing as well as his abilities as a player. Our dressing room could do with a personality like Gazza's. He'd love the big pitch here and he would thrive in front of the 20,000 people we get here on a regular basis."
