Inter deny Crespo deal is done
Friday, 22 August 2003 12:49Inter Milan have denied reports in England saying that they have agreed a fee with Chelsea over the transfer of Argentina striker Hernan Crespo to Stamford Bridge. The Italian giants had representatives in London today negotiating with the Premiership side. Chelsea, looking to spend more of Russia billionaire owner Roman Abramovich's money after his £75million outlay so far, have targeted Crespo.
Marco Branca, Inter Milan's sporting director, spoke to PA International in a telephone interview at Heathrow Airport where he was waiting to board a flight back to Milan. "We (Branca and technical director Gabriele Oriali) are returning to Milan today," he said. "We are very calm. There have been no major movements. We will have to wait a couple of days to see if its either everything, or nothing."
When told of reports in England that Inter had agreed to accept ¤24million for the player, Branca said: "There is absolutely no agreement with Chelsea over the transfer of Hernan Crespo."
