Racing out west at Ballinrobe on Monday

The second of two days racing at Ballinrobe begins at 5.45pm on Monday evening.

The expected soft ground conditions have attracted a large number of declared runners and picking winners may not prove easy.

Those willing to wait until the final event, a maiden hurdle, may do best. Frank Ennis sends his highly regarded Askthejudge up from the Curragh and the booking of Ruby Walsh for this muliple flat winner is significant.

Michael Cunningham is another trainer leaving nothing to chance as he has booked Paul Carberry for Navan charity race winner Coccinelle, who contests a 2m4f handicap hurdle.

Carberry is also aboard a leading contender in the handicap chase. He partners the useful Tony Martin trained Its The Boss, and with only seven rivals the pair look assured to be involved.

The opening three flat handicaps are particularly difficult to sort out, but Donie Hassett's Gallaher's Sister is worth an interest off top weight in the Apprentice race.
