McCoy sidelined with broken arm

Champion jump jockey Tony McCoy could be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a broken arm in a fall at Worcester last night. He was taken to Worcester Royal Hospital after his mount Kymberlya slipped on the final bend of the of the Rose Hill School Handicap Hurdle when still incontention.

McCoy was left in obvious pain on the ground but he was able to walk into the racecourse ambulance, although his arm was in a sling. "He has broken it just above the wrist and we'll know more once the operationhas been done," his agent Dave Roberts told attheraces.

"He was in good spirits and knowing AP, he'll be back as soon as he can. It's too early to say when, but knowing AP I shouldn't think it will be too long. He'll try to get back within four to six weeks, but he'll have to have at least a month off. His weight will increase with not race-riding, so he's got to be positive."

"There's not much racing at this time of year and he should hopefully be back for August and we'll kick on from there. Hopefully he'll be injury-free for therest of the season."
