Quality marks out this year's Ascot Gold Cup renewal

Market leaders Mamool and Mr Dinos were both among a field of 13 confirmed on Saturday for the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot on Thursday. The pair are currently vying for favouritism for the highlight of Ladies' Day with both having been impressive winners on their last outings.

Godolphin's Mamool swooped late to collar subsequent Coronation Cup winner Warrsan in the Yorkshire Cup, while the Paul Cole-trained Mr Dinos was too good for his rivals in the Henry II Stakes. Fight Your Corner and Pugin could also represent Godolphin, while Aidan O'Brien has left in Coronation Cup third Black Sam Bellamy although Clive Brittain has taken out Warrsan.

Another notable absentee is Boreas. Luca Cumani's charge had been fourth favourite in most lists for the two and a half mile showpiece.

Hughie Morrison's Alcazar and the Brian Meehan-trained Savannah Bay fought out a controversial finish to the Sagaro Stakes at this track in April and are set to renew rivalry.
