Six Perfections should oblige in 1000 Guineas

Six Perfections, the unlucky runner-up in the English 1,000 Guineas, gets her chance to make amends when she faces seven rivals in the Irish equivalent at the Curragh on Sunday afternoon.

The French trained filly looks to be in a different league to her opponents and with the expert guidance of Johnny Murtagh in the saddle she is impossible to oppose.

The seven race card begins with an interesting two-year-old maiden at 2.15pm. English trainer Mick Channon introduces a newcomer called Cedarberg, but he will have to be pretty smart to win. His opposition includes Kevin Prendergast's Wathab and Aidan O'Brien's One Cool Cat, which were seperated by a little over one length over the course on their debut. Dermot Weld's Kensington is another sure to be involved following a decent effort at Tipperary.

Weld supplies the favourite for the six furlong Handicap. His filly Tough Chic won her maiden recently at Fairyhouse and looks well treated on her Handicap debut.

Good Day Too is another likely to start at prohibitive odds. The Tommy Stack trained colt finished half a length behind English 2,000 Guineas winner Refuse To Bend at leopardstown last time and faces nothing of that calibre in the listed Airlie Stud Silver Stakes.

The Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup is very hard to call. Only three of the eight runners are Irish trained and while Black Sam Bellamy should prove best of the trio, he may not be good enough to prevail. The Godolphin owned Highdown would come out on top if finding his best form.
