Dublin fined following derby day antics

Dion Dublin has been fined by the Football Association for improper conduct following his sending off during Aston Villa's derby against Birmingham last March. Dublin, who served an automatic three-match ban for headbutting Robbie Savage during Villa's 2-0 defeat, also faced a double charge of `improper conduct' relating to incidents which followed the red card. He was fined £6,000.

Dublin lost his cool completely and had to be restrained by team-mates before finally leaving the field, when, clearly still annoyed, he bellowed cheat directly at one of the television cameras covering the game.

The 34-year-old former England striker has escaped a suspension because the FA took into consideration his previous good disciplinary record and because he subsequently apologised for his behaviour at a press conference.
