Jordan sign new deal with Bridgestone

The Jordan Formula one team recieved yet another boost today, with the news that tyre supplier Bridgestone will be signing an extension to their current deal.

The news comes hot on the heels of a reported £10million cash injection into the troubled team from television redistribution funds.

Team boss Eddie Jordan said "Bridgestone have been a crucial partner to Jordan over the last four years and I'm very pleased we have extended our relationship."

He added, "The Jordan Ford EJ13 package, with the chassis from Henri Durand and Gary Anderson, combined with Ford Cosworth RS power and Bridgestone tyres will be a strong contender and we are looking forward to a season of good racing."

Jordan also hailed the changes that FIA president Max Mosley has made to the sport, claiming that these measures will aid the smaller teams on the track. "Without this we would have needed Houdini at his greatest, pulling lots of rabbits out of hats," he said.

"This means we can go to sponsors and tell them we are definitely inbusiness. I can now say hand on heart that we are in a position to fight in the championship again."
