WPSBA receive vote of confidence

The board of snooker's under-pressure governing body, WPSBA, have survived an attempt to remove them by 48 votes to 26 at a general meeting in Shifnal, Shropshire.

The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association board has defeated the attempt by a group led by the likes of multiple world champions StephenHendry, Steve Davis and Terry Griffiths.

They had been unhappy with the way the WPBSA appointed World Snooker Enterprise as commercial partners.

Afterwards Hendry said, "I'm going to shut up from now on. I've done enough criticising for a lot of players and that's the end of it as far as I'm concerned. I didn't expect the vote to go our way to be honest, I wasn't very optimistic.

"Now it's time for everyone to get behind the game and let World SnookerEnterprises (WSE) get on with what they've been brought in to do. Our criticism was never with WSE, just the board of World Snooker. They may turn out to be very good for the game."
