United offer Fortune new deal

South African international Quinton Fortune is to be offered a new four-year contract by Manchester United. Despite limited first team opportunities, manager Alex Ferguson views Fortune as a valuable member of the first team squad at Old Trafford.

"Quinton had a great World Cup for South Africa. He will be staying at United and we are about to offer him a new four-year contract. Quinton is still a developing player, but he is improving. Unfortunately he picked up an injury during the World Cup and had to miss a few of our games," Ferguson told the club's official website.
