Forlan finds his form in reserve

Manchester United striker Diego Forlan may be struggling to score for the first team but he found his form last night when he scored four times against Blackburn's reserves. The Uruguayan has played 32 times for the United first team but has only scored once, a penalty against Maccabi Haifa in the Champions League this season.

However, last night he must have put his scoring boots on as he hit a first-half hat-trick and then added his fourth and United's fifth after Kieran Richardson scored for the Red Devils in the second-half. Forlan could have had five goals to his name but he had earlier missed a penalty.

Now the Uruguayan insists he will score goals for the first team but admits he has taken some time to settle into the Premiership. "It will come," he said. "I put a bit of pressure on myself last season because I wanted to score before the summer. I didn't manage that but I have just told myself to keep working and doing the things I did when I first started playing. The game is different in England but if I do that, I should be fine. Sometimes you just need a little bit of luck. Sometimes you've got to work a bit harder on your finishing. I've missed some chances but I just need to keep doing the same things and the goals will eventually come."

Meanwhile, Luke Chadwick has admitted that he will have to quit Old Trafford if he can't establish a regular place for himself in the first team. The 22-year-old got off to a bright start at the club, making his debut as an 18-year-old against Aston Villa back in 1998 and coming on regularly off the bench that season.

However, he started just five games last season and injury has thwarted any chance he had of making his way into contention this season so far. With Ryan Giggs and David Beckham ahead of him in the pecking order, his chances of winning a regular spot in the first team are now looking very slim.

"I need to make an impression this season because I am 22 now and need first-team action," he said. "If I don't make an impact I will have to look elsewhere. If a loan deal came along that would be fine. It would be good to get a regular game of football. As you get older, you can't wait forever for your chance. You want to get amongst it and be part of the squad. There are so many great players here you know you cannot walk into the team but if I don't make an impact this season I would have to consider leaving," he added.
