Supporters are victims of ticket fraud

Rugby union fans who have bought tickets for next year's World Cup tournament in Australia over the internet have been the victims of a fraud. John Aquilina, the Fair Trading Minister for New South Wales state said in a statement that fans should beware of bogus ticket deals being offered on the internet.

No tickets to the event were yet available, he said and no pricing policy had yet been formulated. No one is currently authorised to offer tickets for sale. "The tickets have not yet been released, any tickets you purchase now are bound to be forgeries and you'll do your money," said Aquilina. He added that the Department of Fair Trading was investigating several reports of rugby World Cup tickets being offered for sale over the internet and of a similar racket for concert tickets at the Sydney Opera House.
