Haaland not to take legal action

watch

Roy Keane will breath a huge sigh of relief following Alf Inge Haaland's admission that he is not considering legal action despite the Manchester United man's revelations that he deliberately set out to injure him. It was thought that Keane's claims in his autobiography that he deliberately tried to injure the Manchester City midfielder could lead to City's insurers suing the United player, while Haaland himself may have opted to try to recoup lost income and personal sponsorship deals.

However, the Norwegian today claimed his only current goal is to get himself fit and play a part in City's return to the Premiership. The 29-year-old missed City's farewell to the Premiership last year when he underwent an operation on a knee, but complications meant he was restricted to just four appearances for the Maine Road club from the bench last season - the last one at the start of January.

Sky Sports News reported that Haaland had told them he was not considering legal action and was concentrating on getting fit again. He revealed: "It's been pretty frustrating - I've been through three operations so it's been a period I would rather forget. I'm still injured. I've had a scan again that should tell me if I require more surgery. Time will tell. It's something the doctors have to find out."
