Nayef heads Prince of Wales's field
Friday, 14 June 2002 14:58A total of 18 horses have been left in Wednesday's Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot at the five-day declarations stage. The field is headed by Marcus Tregoning's Nayef, who was a disappointing third in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh on his European reappearance last time out.
His possible rivals include five Godolphin representatives, Best Of The Bests, Equerry, Noverre, Sydenham and Grandera, winner of the Singapore Airlines International Cup on his last outing. Aidan O'Brien has two horses engaged in the one mile, two furlong contest, Shoal Creek and Bach while France could be represented by Andre Fabre's Banks Hill and Poussin form the Ellie Lellouche stable.
Aidan O'Brien's Shoal Creek heads a field of 54 acceptors for Wednesday's Royal Hunt Cup. As expected ante post favourite Nayyir has not been declared for the one mile handicap at Royal Ascot and will now go for the Queen Anne Stakes on the opening day of the meeting.
