Operation for Hasselbaink
Monday, 13 May 2002 21:35Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has undergone surgery on his troublesome calf injury. The Dutch striker played in the FA Cup final earlier this month despite fears over his fitness but has now gone under the knife to ensure he is fully fit in time for the start of next season.
Hasselbaink, who club doctor Neil Frazer described as less than 100% fit following the cup final, will rest for four weeks before resuming training. Frazer added on Chelsea TV: "The calf muscle is held in a bag and the problem occurs when pressure rises as the muscle works and vessels become constricted or restricted within it."
