Leicester seal Heineken Cup final berth

A dramatic last-minute penalty from fullback Tim Stimpson sealed defending champions Leicester a 13-12 victory over Llanelli in the semi-final of the European Cup at Nottingham. With his side facing defeat, Stimpson struck an astonishing penalty from 58 metres which hit the bar and then the upright before going over.

Four penalties from Welsh international flyhalf Stephen Jones on a rainy day at the City Ground had put Llanelli within seconds of reaching their first final before the remarkable finish. Scrumhalf Harry Ellis scored a second-half try for Leicester and Stimpson kicked a total of two penalties and a conversion for the victory.

Leicester will face Ireland's Munster, 25-17 victors over France's Castres on Saturday, in the final on May 25 at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.
