Horlock out of NI squad

Kevin Horlock has become the fifth player to be ruled out of Northern Ireland's friendly against Liechtenstein on Wednesday after he withdrew with a neck injury. Horlock aggravated the injury in Manchester City's draw with Rotherham at the weekend and Irish manager Sammy McIlroy received the bad news from the club physio.

McIlroy is disappointed at losing Horlock for the second international in succession and he had planned to start him in Vaduz. "City say he's had a neck injury for the last month and that he fell on it yesterday," he said. "So he's out and he's going for a scan tomorrow. That's annoying because I think this is the best I've seen Kevin play in the last couple of months. It's a real shame and with the other injuries I had wanted Kevin in there."
