Ice Hockey: Giants stride to victory

Belfast Giants tonight claimed the Ice Hockey Superleague's first win in the Ahearne Trophy with a 4-3 overtime victory against Hannover Scorpions at the Odyssey Arena. Having lost 4-3 in overtime to Oberhausen last night, Belfast once again found themselves behind against the Scorpions after just 134 seconds.

But Dave Matsos and Kevin Riehl turned the game around before the German side grabbed two goals inside 83 seconds to regain the lead. Sean Berens tied it up at 3-3, and Jeff Hoad secured victory with just 34 seconds of overtime remaining.
