Four charged over Cardiff crowd trouble

Four men have been charged with public order offences after crowd trouble marred Cardiff City's memorable 2-1 victory over Leeds United in the FA Cup third round tie at Ninian Park on Sunday. They are due to appear at the City magistrates' court on January 17. However, detectives are still examining video footage from the game to track down a group of 25 fans they believe were at the heart of the trouble and are also looking at tapes of the Bristol City match the previous week after away fans also made complaint against the Cardiff supporters.

Meanwhile, the Football League have welcomed the decision by Cardiff City owner Sam Hammam to stop walking around the pitch during matches at Ninian Park. After several complaints, including one from Leeds boss David O'Leary, who suggested Hammam incited the Cardiff supporters during his walkabout, the former Wimbledon owner has promised to remain in his seat for now on.
