Police question Byrne and Terry

Former Irish under-21 international Des Byrne of Wimbledon and Chelsea's John Terry have been arrested following an alleged nightclub altercation in the early hours of this morning.

The pair were arrested after an incident involving a member of staff and two customers at the Wellington Club in central London. A 28-year old receptionist suffered a half-inch cut to the cheek. Scotland Yard confirmed that two men aged 21 and 20 were arrested for alleged assault.

Back in September, Terry was fined two weeks' wages for drunken and insulting behaviour that upset grieving American tourists the day after the attacks on New York and Washington.
