Ice Hockey: Giants thrash Steelers to go 23 points clear
Friday, 4 January 2002 22:18Belfast Giants broke the Superleague record of twelve successive home wins with an 8-1 thrashing of champions Sheffield Steelers at the Odyssey Arena this evening. The Giants also equalled the ISL record of twelve matches unbeaten as they destroyed Mike Blaisdell's team.
Paxton Schulte, David Matos and Rod Stevens grabbed two each, with Jeff Hoad and Sean Berens also scoring in a win which stretches the Giants' lead to 23 points. Chris Lipsett scored a consolation goal for the Steelers.
