Ice Hockey: Whistle chosen to lead All Stars
Thursday, 1 November 2001 10:29Ice Hockey fans have voted Belfast Giants coach Dave Whistle to lead the Sekonda Superleague All Star team against Great Britain. A remarkable 71% of fellow coaches also wanted Whistle, who has led the Giants to the top of the table, to coach the All Star line-up for the game at Nottingham's National Ice Centre on 14 December.
"I'm so honoured to be selected by the fans as there are so many great coaches in this league. It means a lot to me, as it will for the players in the starting line-up. It should be a really great, fun night," said Whistle.
Superleague's leading points scorer Ed Courtenay, Ayr team-mate Johan Silfwerplatz, Trevor Robins and Trevor Roenick (London), PC Drouin Nottingham) and Shane Johnson (Belfast) were voted to be the All Star starting line-up.
