Ice Hockey: Giants return to top of league

Belfast Giants returned to the top of the Sekonda Superleague with an emphatic 7-2 victory at home to Ayr Scottish Eagles in Belfast on Thursday night. It was the fourth successive time this season Belfast have beaten the pre-match League leaders, who also saw their three-game winning run come to an end.

But four goals in five minutes from ex-Eagle Jeff Hoad, Ward and Kurt Bowen (two) helped Belfast on their way to their first win in four games, with Johan Silfwerplatz grabbing a late consolation for the visitors.
