Villa interested in Micoud

Aston Villa manager John Gregory has confirmed that the club are interested in signing Parma's French international Johan Micoud. Gregory is looking to beef up his squad to combat the effect of injuries and Micoud is high on the shopping list.

"We have been linked with Johan and he is one of a number of people we are interested in. The squad needs strengthening. We've played 16 matches and we're just starting to creak a little because of knocks and bruises kicking in. We need a couple of additions and Micoud is one we have been interested in for a considerable time," said Gregory.

Micould was a member of the French squads which won the World Cup in 1998 and the European Championships last year.
