Minnows Stirling to face Celtic in CIS Cup
Thursday, 27 September 2001 14:03Third Division Stirling Albion have been rewarded for their surprising second round CIS Insurance Cup win over St Mirren with a trip to treble winners Celtic in the third round. The tie will be played on either November 6th or 7th because of Celtic's Champions League commitments, almost a month after Rangers will face First Division Airdrie in another lucrative trip for a lower league club.
Meanwhile, Dundee face Ross County, who disposed of Premier League Hearts in a penalty shoot-out in mid-week, while Kilmarnock travel to near-neighbours Ayr United in the next round after receiving a bye to help their UEFA Cup campaign.
In two all-SPL ties, Dundee United play host to managerless St Johnstone while Livingston must travel to Aberdeen. Raith entertain Hibernian and Inverness must travel to Dunfermline in the final two ties.
