Radcliffe equals world record

Paula Radcliffe followed up her British 5,000 metres track record by equalling the world best for a five kilometre road race. Less than 48 hours after setting a new British in Berlin, Radcliffe captured the Flora Light Challenge for Women in London's Hyde Park. "I'm really delighted to have put together two back-to-back races like this," said a delighted Radcliffe after the race.

Running ahead of the 20,000 fun runners, she recorded a time of 14 minutes and 57 seconds to hold off the challenge of Kenya's Tegla Loroupe by six seconds. Early pacemaker Derartu Tulu, Ethiopia's Olympic and world 10,000 metre champion and winner of this year's London Marathon - was a distant third in 15:35. Radcliffe's time saw her equal the record set by Liz McColgan 10 years ago in Chicago.
