Keohane spins out in heavy rain

Extreme conditions forced Michael Keohane to spin out of the British F3 Championship at Knockhill in Scotland while in second place. The 21-year-old Irishman started from the second row of the grid in the 19th round, battling with Matthew Gilmore, Robbie Kerr and the eventual race winner Ernani Judice. Just as Keohane took second place from series leader Robbie Kerr on lap 20 of 29, his rear tyre lost traction over the slippery curbing on the exit of McIntyre corner and he was sent spinning into retirement.

The race had originally been cancelled because of heavy fog, and round 20, which was scheduled to take place in the afternoon, was postponed by officials who declared the track conditions to be too dangerous. Keohane was set to start from the third row of the grid, having set the fifth fastest time in dry qualifying on Saturday. The British F3 Championship will next move to the high speed Thruxton circuit outside London on 1-2 September.
