Bohs eyes on big prize

Bohemians will find out tomorrow if a lucrative meeting with one of the European football giants is in store in the Champions League, when the draw is made for the final qualifying round at UEFA headquarters. Of course, they first have to overcome Swedish champions Halmstads, but the prospect of meeting teams like Barcelona or Liverpool will be great motivation.

Manager Pete Mahon believes that Bohs are on a roll, following their two-leg victory over Estonians Levadia Maardu. "I told the boys in the dressing room before the game that I was with a team in 1990 that started like this. We got a little bit of a run going and the adrenaline started flowing and we started picking up wins here and there. Before we knew where we were, we were in the FAI Cup final at Lansdowne Road," he said.

Halmstad are an unknown quantity, but Mahon remains confident that his team will be well-prepared by the time of the match. "We know nothing about them apart from the fact that they are Swedish champions. But we will familiarise ourselves with them over the next few days. They know all about us and must be impressed," said Mahon.
