Keohane denied podium finish

Ireland's Michael Keohane was denied an almost certain podium finish in the International F3 Invitation race at Sunday's British Grand Prix when his Ibstock Brick backed Dallara was taken out by Scholarship rival Matthew Gilmore, an action which saw the Irish driver excluded from the results.

Third quickest in qualifying, despite completing just four laps in the 20 minute session on Friday, the 21-year-old Cork racer made a good start to the 15-lap encounter and was holding third until his Meritus Racing Dallara was spun into retirement at Club corner on lap 11 when hit by Gilmore.

A non-championship encounter, the Silverstone race was won by England's Robbie Kerr ahead of his Fred Goddard Racing team-mate Dutchman Robert Doornbos. Crossing the line in fourth position Brazilian Ernani Judice claimed the final podium placing after race officials excluded Gilmore for his move on Keohane.

Keohane must now put Sunday's disappointment behind him and concentrate on rounds 21 and 22 of the championship which take place on the Donington Park Grand Prix circuit next weekend.
